This has been undertaken in a number of ways, including listing of the entire site on the National Trust Register; conducting a Petition of Concern with 196 signatures; heritage listing of the entire Research Station site in Bathurst Regional Council's LEP; and obtaining interest from some 75 persons to establish a Friends Group at last year's Heritage Trades Trail.
The Steering Committee, formed in 2017, is now pleased to inform Bathurst residents that the group, Friends of Bathurst Agricultural Research Station Inc., has recently been registered through NSW Fair Trading.
The objects of the Friends Group are:
1. To preserve, adapt and re-purpose for future generations the historical precinct known as Bathurst Agricultural Research Station, formerly Bathurst Experiment Farm.
2. To retain the site's heritage, infrastructure and agricultural history, buildings and plantings.
3. To establish, unique to the Bathurst Region, a botanic garden, an agricultural museum and education centre.
The Steering Committee would welcome the interest and collaboration of Bathurst residents in the future preservation, adaptation and re-purposing of the former Bathurst Agricultural Research Station.
