The $10 million redevelopment of the site is in its second stage at the moment, which is seeing major work being undertaken on the retail area.
Hines Constructions project manager, Dallas Harvey, said the work is focused on the northern side of the site.
“That is progressing quite well. We’re probably 60 per cent of the way through the structure on that,” he said.
“We’re anticipating a pour later this month for all the upper level, which will enclose that bottom level.”
The retail areas are expected to be complete in August, with the upstairs childcare centre’s completion to follow in September.
“We’re pretty much on track for that at this stage,” Mr Harvey said.
In a matter of weeks, residents can expect to see an exciting new tenant open for business.
A new Dominos Pizza franchise will move into a new building on the site.
The store was expected to be open by now, but Mr Harvey said there has been a bit of a delay.
“Domino’s are currently in there doing their own fit-out at the moment,” he said.
“I would anticipate that they would be finished by the later part of this month.”
A tenant has not yet been secured for the adjoining retail space, which was designed to be a coffee shop with drive-through facilities.
“I know they’ve been talking to some potentials at the moment, but nothing has been confirmed,” Mr Harvey said.
Development manager Jonathan Carlile said it is still “early days”, but there has been interest from a variety of food retailers, along with hair and beauty retailers for other shops in the complex.
As for car parking, there have been some major changes at the site in recent weeks.
The old car park has been halved and a new section has been in use.
Mr Harvey said this configuration will remain unchanged for a while longer, most likely until late July or early August.
“It is fairly stable for the next little bit. We’re not anticipating any changes to the car parking arrangements for the next month or two,” he said.
Hines Constructions managing director David Hines said the project has been going really well, aided by the favourable weather.
“We’ve had some really good building weather. Being so dry, we have been able to make up some time,” he said.
“Our main priority is to keep the flow of traffic as smooth as possible and that is in turn keeping all the tenants happy and not loosing any business.”
He added that people are happy to see work progressing at the site.
