Emergency services were called to the building, on the corner of Browning Street and the Mid Western Highway, at around 12am on Saturday morning.
NSW Fire and Rescue crews from Bathurst, Kelso and Orange attended, along with the Eglinton Rural Fire Service brigade, police and ambulance personnel.
Essential Energy was also of assistance.
When crews arrived, the building was found well alight.
NSW Fire and Rescue duty commander Steven Evans said the blaze was difficult for crews to get under control.
“It was a difficult fire to put out because of the flames and the intense heat,” he said.
“We had to take a defensive stance, which is where we fight it from the outside.”
The Mid Western Highway had to be closed and diversions put in place while crews attended to the blaze.
Nearly 12 hours after receiving the phone call, fire crews were still on the scene.
The fire was under control, but Mr Evans said fire fighters were still dealing with “hot spots”.
At 5pm, NSW Police reported that the building had been “totally destroyed” by the fire, but no one was injured.
A crime scene was established, and investigators from both Chifley Police District and Fire and Rescue NSW are now investigating the incident.
There has been no information made available regarding the cause of the fire at this stage.
