Lynn was a notable omission as Cricket Australia (CA) on Tuesday named squads for the first one-day international (ODI) and Twenty20 assignments under new coach Justin Langer.

The 28-year-old Lynn has returned to playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League after dislocating his shoulder while diving in the field during the T20 tri-series in New Zealand in February.

But it's understood his fielding capacity remains a concern with national selectors not convinced he has recovered to the level required for international cricket.

Lynn is set to undergo a review with a specialist upon returning from the IPL with the aim of him returning to national duties next summer.

Australia will play five ODIs against England in June, followed by T20 fixtures in England and Zimbabwe.

The ODI series looms as a key warm-up for next year's World Cup with selectors keen to assess performance on the lively English pitches.

Lynn did not require surgery after dislocating his right shoulder in New Zealand but it was the latest in a long list of injuries for one of the most destructive batsmen in world cricket.

He also had his left shoulder reconstructed last year, prompting him to pass up a state contract with Queensland, while a calf injury forced him to pull out of last summer's home ODI series against England.

With suspended duo Steve Smith and David Warner's $2.4 million IPL contracts torn up in the wake of the ball-tampering saga, Lynn's $1.86 million Kolkata deal is the biggest among all Australian players.
