The Year 11 student from Kelso High School is one of seven students selected Australia wide to participate in the United World Colleges (UWC) global education program, which will see her live in China, and complete her International Baccalaureate (IB) there.
UWC is a global education movement that makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.
Bridget said she is excited about what lies ahead.
She said the selection process was rigorous and began last year.
Despite not speaking Chinese, she said she can’t wait to learn about the country and it’s culture.
She will attend an international school in Chang Shu for the next two years, returning briefly to Australia for two months in July next year.
China is one of 17 UWC campuses spread across the world, Bridget’s brother Tom participated in the program a few years ago, he was based in America.
Deputy principal at Kelso High School, Stephanie Scott said Bridget would be an amazing ambassador for the school.
“She’s one of our top achieving students, we are really going to miss her, but this is a fantastic opportunity.” she said.
