Tim Mortimer says it’s relief more than jubilation, but either way he’s a happy man after Blayney broke its 2018 Group 10 duck in Lithgow on Sunday.

And they did it comfortably.
Led by doubles to Carter Hirini, Jacob Bell and Mitch Evers, the latter also booting seven goals to finish with a personal tally of 22 points, the Bears blazed to a 46-14 thrashing of Workies at Tony Luchetti Sportsground.
Mortimer has said for weeks the Bears’ improvement will eventually result in victories, and his players delivered on that promise in spades, or rather four-pointers, against Lithgow.
Blayney scored eight tries to very nearly double their 2018 season total in one round.
Mortimer was thrilled his side was able to capatilise on the opportunities Workies presented them, kicking on from the 22-8 lead to win by 32 points.
It’s Blayney’s first premier league victory since knocking off Oberon 22-18 at King George Oval in round 16 of the 2016 season.
“I’ve said in the past week, this has been coming,” Mortimer said.
“But in previous rounds errors have put us on the back foot and today we controlled the ruck well and defended well and got in the game.
“Workies didn’t play great but we were good enough to make the most of it.
“It’s so good to get that.”
Mortimer was confident it’s a win the Bears can build on.
With the Group 10 ladder ever-so-close, Blayney finds itself just two wins out of the top five.
“Now we’ve got that taste it’s something we’ll fight for,” Mortimer said.
“The rest of the season isn’t going to be easy, but we’ve got the belief now.
“We’re excited to take on CYMS this week.”
Mortimer praised the work of fullback Carter Hirini and said the addition of backrowers Mick Godfrey and Jacob Bell has provided leadership and shored up Blayney’s defence.
“I can’t fault anyone though. It’s been coming for two years and it’s a good feeling for everyone,” Mortimer added.
