In her work as director of Bodhicitta Foundation in India, Ms Yeshe has spent the past decade building a girls home to protect them from child marriage and empower them with education, as well as many other social work projects.
She is also the author of the book Everyday Enlightenment, has produced a CD with Buddhist chants and is currently founding a monastery in the Blue Mountains.
“Spirituality helps us come to a place of peace and wholeness within ourselves,” Ms Yeshe said.
“When we practice spirituality we also see that we are bound by sacred connections to all of life and that happiness is not just a personal matter, but a communal matter.
“Knowing that we are all interconnected, we also realise that peace for oneself when the world is on fire is insufficient, so active compassion - action to alleviate the many problems of the world is also as important as going within.”
During the visit, Ms Yeshe will talk and sing at events across the city, including: at Rahamim Ecology Centre at 6.30pm on Friday, at a mindfulness and spiritual singing workshop at Prana Yoga Studio at 1pm on Saturday; and at a fundraising dinner at Tamarin Indian Restaurant at 6.30pm on Saturday.
Call 6332 9950 to book for the Friday night event, or call the Tharpa Choeling Buddhist Centre on 6845 4661 for the Saturday events.
