In conjunction with Bathurst Regional Council’s library and information week, the library will host the book sale on both Friday and Saturday.
A majority of the books have been donated but they are not old, worn out books rather top quality ones.
“These are good quality books,” Bathurst Library manager Patou Clerc said.
“We only accept good quality books. If we are given old and worn out books, to don’t sell them or add to our collection.”
“People donate books all the time to us but some go into our collection but some also go into the sale,” Bathurst Library manager Patou Clerc said.
Money raised from the book sale goes towards the library’s reading programs and helps provide the library with more resources.
Paperback books will cost $1 and hardback books will cost $3.
“Starting this month, we’re looking to now host a book sale on the last Friday and Saturday from now on,” Ms Clerc said.
“We’ll give that a shot and see how it goes, instead of one or two a year.”
In age of the internet and e-books, one could assume that books are in a decline.

However, Ms Clerc said books are still proving to be popular.
“Books have been there for a long time,” she said.
“People thought that TV would kill the radio but that didn’t happen. It’s the same case with books.
“All ages, from kids to adults, are still getting into reading books.
“It’s not a competition with e-books and tablets.
“If people are travelling, they take an e-book but at home they would be more likely to have a hard copy book.”
The book sale will run from 10am to 6pm on Friday and from 10am to 3pm on Sunday and will be held in the entrance of the Bathurst Library.
The Bathurst Library’s Biggest Morning Tea will also be held on Friday, from 10.30am to midday, and all money raised from the morning tea will be donated to the Daffodil Cottage.
In conjunction with the library and information week, the library will also host a Lego club on Thursday from 4pm to 4.45pm.
