In a story of resilience, strength and positivity, the promotional video titled Changes is a celebration of survival and a commentary on the multi-layered social issues that affect Indigenous young people in Bathurst and across the Central West.
Kelso student Kyle Tangye said the video is important because it promotes mental health.
“Mental health is a big problem for Aboriginal people and we have one of the highest rate of suicide in young people,” he said.
“Raising awareness is very important. We need to get the suicide rate down, which would be great.”
Parts of the video was filmed in Bathurst at iconic places such as Wahluu (Mount Panorama), Wambool (Macquarie River) and the entrance into the city from Orange.
The video can be viewed at the Desert Pea Media Facebook page.
