The wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry last Saturday captured the world’s attention with all the pomp and ceremony you would expect at such an occasion.
But when the champagne stopped flowing and Idris Elba stopped spinning the discs at the exclusive reception that followed, did the Prince and Meghan set off on their honeymoon in a royal Bentley with tin cans and toilet paper streaming out the back?
Not likely. Instead, it was straight down to work for the newest royal couple with garden parties to attend and hospital wards to open.
So when they visit NSW later this year for the Invictus Games in Sydney, no-one could blame Harry and Meghan for finally seeking some down time together. And what better place to do just that than here in Bathurst?
The NSW Government is reportedly working on a regional visiting for the pair with Bathurst and the Hunter Valley suggested as options so far.
With respect to the Valley, though, it’s a no contest, isn’t it?
No-one in their right mind would go choose to go traipsing through the vines and mines of the Hunter when the option was a trip to Bathurst.
We know the city is a favourite of Harry’s grandmother (she has been here twice, after all) and we’re sure he and his new bride will love it as well.
We’ve put together a “quick six” experiences for the royal couple to sample in Bathurst, but we’re sure our readers would have some great suggestions of their own. Just go to our Facebook page to tell us what you think.
