Annabelle Jones and Ashley Larsen are leading to call for stamps, and are hoping people in the community can help out.
The girls said the school is collecting the stamps to help the Sisters of Saint Joseph fund-raise for the people of Timor Leste (East Timor).
They launched the stamp collecting this week to coincide with East Timor celebrating Independence Day on May 20.
Annabelle and Ashley said the Sisters sell the stamps to stamp collectors, and money raised will then go to helping health and education programs in East Timor.
In 2017, the Sisters of St Joseph raised over $4,000 through this activity.
“As a school proudly founded by the Sisters of St Joseph, we would like to assist them in this valuable cause,” they said.
The girls are asking businesses to keep envelopes with stamps.
“When you have some to pick up, please contact the school and we will be happy to come and collect them on behalf of the sisters.”
Stamps can also be left at the Assumption School office.
Both girls said the students at Assumption wanted to be involved in the project to help those less fortunate.
“Any donations people can make would be greatly appreciated by the Sisters of St Joseph and the people of East Timor.”
