Competing last weekend in Hobart, the chorus placed third in the Australian Small Chorus championship.
This was the first time in four years that the chorus has competed nationally, with their last competition performance at the International Harmony Classic held in Las Vegas in 2015.
It was also their first competition under the direction of Beth Pratley who stepped out of the chorus ranks in 2016 to become full-time musical director.
Ms Pratley was thrilled with the chorus’ performance in Hobart.
“We had a fantastic weekend in Hobart,” she said.
“We had five new members at their very first competition but all the girls were really relaxed and we were able to put our best performance on stage for the judges.
“This year’s competition was of a really high standard so to still be amongst the medallists was the icing on the cake.”
The chorus is now taking a well-earned break from rehearsals before they open the doors for a Guest Member Program in July.
They invite any local women aged 16 and over to come and spend six weeks with the chorus learning about a cappella singing. No prior musical experience is needed – just the ability to sing in tune and a willingness to have fun.
