Stephen Matthew Campbell, 45, of Alcheringa Road, Kelso, appeared in person unrepresented before Bathurst Local Court on May 14.
Police facts outlined how at 11pm on December 9 last year Campbell was caught driving in Havannah Street with methamphetamine in his system.
The court heard how Campbell was stopped by police for a random breath test, which came back negative.
He was then subjected to an oral fluid test which produced a positive detection to methamphetamine.
Campbell was arrested for a secondary oral fluid test and taken to Bathurst police station for a second sample, which also returned a positive result.
In relation to taking the drugs the accused said to police he “hadn't consumed illegal drugs for some time”.
Campbell was convicted by magistrate Michael Allen, fined $440 and disqualified from driving for six months.
