Both Ben Wheeler and his passenger Catherine Fitzsimons were flown to North Shore on May 15 after the crash which left Mr Wheeler’s Cirrus SR22 in flames after it struck the ground just off the tarmac during a training flight.
Mr Wheeler was thrown free of the aircraft during the crash, but returned to the aircraft to assist emergency services in freeing Ms Fitzsimons.
Both suffered burns as a result of the accident.
An investigation into the crash by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau is still under way, with a report expected some time next month.
