Moustapha Moheich, 36, of Knox Road, in Doonside appeared before visiting magistrate Alexander Mijovich on Monday, May 21.
Police facts told how Moheich was stopped by police just after 9pm on May 3 this year at Guyong.
The court heard how police observed the accused in a 2017 Mercedes Sprinter tabletop, travelling well in excess of the posted speed limit of 100km an hour.
Police estimated his speed to be travelling more than 115km an hour and less than 125km an hour
They released the beam of a Silver Eagle 2 Radar which revealed the number ‘121’ which then decreased to ‘118’ over a three second period.
Police activated the warning lights on their highway patrol car and stopped the driver.
Moheich exited the car and approached the police he was informed of the car’s in car video recording system and the reason for being stopped.
Police requested his driver’s licence, which he produced.
When questioned about his speed the accused said to police “I actually got carried away.”
He was subject to a random breath test, which produced negative result.
Police conducted checks on his driver’s licence via a mobile data terminal which revealed the accused’s licence was suspended on February 8, 2018 until September 9, 2018 due to exceeding demerit points.
He was questioned in relation to his suspension but denied any knowledge of it.
Further checks on his licence revealed he had been stopped on a number of occasions in the past 12 months for excessive speed include exceed the speed limit over 45km an hour and exceed speed limit over 30km an hour.
For drive a motor vehicle while licence suspended he was fined $600 and disqualified from driving for six months.
For exceeding the speed limit he was convicted and fined $400.
