The way to relieve this twice daily occurrence would be to make William Street one way south and George Street one way north.
Associated with traffic flows is the increasing need to cross Durham Street (the highway).
This latter difficulty will only become more evident as Bathurst continues to grow.
Therefore, it needs to be tackled now, otherwise Durham Street will become increasingly a parking lot at peak times with currently four sets of traffic lights in the CBD area catering for through traffic to the Mid Western Highway and Mitchell Highway and increasing numbers of transports.
