Well, we are sure the past fortnight since your spectacular Royal Wedding has been a whirlwind.
No doubt you have had little time alone together to settle into married life, but we guess that’s the way it is in your family.
But if we could ask just a moment of your time, we would like to talk about the possibility of you both visiting us here in Bathurst in October.
As you would be aware, Australia is looking forward to welcoming you to our shores for the Invictus Games in Sydney.
The Games concept is a wonderful one and a credit to you, Prince Harry, for advocating it so strongly.
The hope and purpose the Invictus Games provide for injured ex-servicemen and women has proved enormously valuable in their recovery and rehabilitation.
Naturally, your time in Sydney will be kept to a hectic schedule, rushing from one engagement to the next and meeting as many competitors and members of the general public as possible.
You might also be aware that the NSW Government is seeking to arrange a regional visit to take you out of the rat race.
Regional NSW has so much to offer and spring is a beautiful time of year. But it would be remiss of us not to take this opportunity to highly commend Bathurst as your regional destination.
Bathurst is an easy three-hour drive from Sydney and holds a special place in Australia’s history as the first inland European settlement. Lachlan Macquarie liked what he saw when he first set eyes on this region in 1815 and we’re sure you will, too.
Bathurst is home to some unique cultural and community facilities including the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum, the National Motor Racing Museum and Chifley Home; it has strong links to indigenous Australia as the home and resting place of proud Wiradyuri warrior Windradyne; and the city sits beneath the world-famous Mount Panorama.
But Bathurst’s greatest asset is its people who will welcome you warmly and respectfully, just as we welcomed Prince Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, back in 1954 and 1982.
No trip to Australia would be complete without a trip to the country. And no trip to the country would be complete without a trip to Bathurst.
We look forward to meeting you both.
