After finishing second at Harden on October 28, M’Lady Grace was originally retired and went to stud but after she couldn’t carry a foul she has made her return to racing.
She trailed at Hawkesbury on May 28 and Bathurst trainer Roy McCabe said she impressed on the day.
“She trailed really well at Hawkesbury, carrying 62 kilos,” he said.
“Now she’s got a claim and will be only carrying 52 at Parkes. 10 kilos is a massive weight difference.
“If she can get a good start and take to the front, she should do well.”
“She’s not a big, strong horse but we’re expecting her to run well.
The five-year-old mare won her one and only race in April 8, 2017, which happened to be her racing debut at Grenfell.
Since then she’s only claimed another two placings – second at Harden and Young – both in October, 2017.
M’Lady Grace has drawn barrier two, with Ashleigh Stanley in the saddle, for the mare’s eighth career start.
McCabe has another starter on the day, Gaze Beyond in the P.J.L Group Maiden Plate (800 metres).
It’ll be the three-year-old filly’s maiden start.
She’s had one trail – at Orange on December 12, 2017 – which saw her finish seventh from the nine-horse field.
Racing starts at 1.30pm, with five races to feature on the day.
