Thousands of race fans flock to the Mount to attend a range of motorsport events at the iconic circuit each year and Cr Jennings said local producers should be a part of the action.
He took his initiative to council’s recent policy committee meeting where he urged his fellow councillors to support looking into the prospect of introducing a ‘local produce’ food and drink section.
“I’d like to a see a local produce only area within all the events that occur on Mount Panorama,” he said.
Cr Jennings said while it was too late for it to happen at this year’s Bathurst 1000, the next Challenge Bathurst or Bathurst 12 Hour may be a possibility.
“Maybe it’s a matter of starting at the smaller events and working our way up,” he said.
“I think it would take a little bit of facilitation by council … but I’d like to think that a consortium [of local producers] might be interested.”
