Three of its members, Stella Hall, Jacinta Casey and Elsie Staines, came out on top in the junior photography competition at the CWA NSW state conference held at Armidale in May, each taking out prizes for their efforts.
The theme for the junior photography was “bus stop”.
As if that wasn’t enough, Dominica Smithers took out first place in the nine to 12 years photography and James Burgess and Ruby McRobert came first and second in the short storytelling competition. The storytelling competition theme was “lending a hand”.
All six juniors went up against hundreds of others across the state.
Meanwhile, fellow Bathurst Evening Branch Junior CWA members Ruby and Harry Thorne were recently announced as recipients of educational scholarships from the Phillips Group.
And they weren’t easy scholarships to win: just nine of the 68 applicants were successful.
A total of $19,550 has been awarded across NSW so far to support the educational advancement of students in various age categories.
