BATHURST Regional Council should contribute financially to events and festivals organised and run by villages across the local government area, councillor Jess Jennings says.

He used council’s recent policy committee meeting to highlight to his fellow councilors that villages tend to hold one major event or festival each year, and that these attract many visitors to the region.

“I think we should be starting with $5000 per event per village per year,” Cr Jennings said.
