While those mistakes are highlighted, we very seldom hear of the outstanding service provided by doctors and staff in the hospitals and aged care homes every minute.
I was recently at Bathurst Hospital for a few weeks and I would like to say that the advice, attention and outstanding care by the doctors and staff was absolutely great. I am sure that 99.9 per cent of the time that service prevails in most hospitals and aged care facilities with little recognition.
The other point I would like to make is the changing dialogue in relation to religious teachings. I must point out this is not directed at the beliefs of any individual; every person has their own opinion.
I was born in 1928 and the teaching of religion and beliefs during my school years, and for many years after school, has changed dramatically to the teaching of religion today. It is very difficult to comprehend today’s teaching.
I am no theologian and in a changing world, I suppose everything changes.
In most churches, the final analysis today seems to be “believe in Jesus Christ and eternal life will be the reward”.
I wonder what has happened to the teaching of yesterday - that to believe in Jesus Christ, have great faith, believe in the resurrection, repent and penance, forgiveness, prayer and love and trust and eternal life is assured?
I will settle for the old version.
