A warning posted on the Bureau of Meteorology website today warned graziers that cold temperatures, showers and northwesterly winds were expected during Friday and Saturday.
“Areas likely to be affected include the Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes and Snowy Mountains forecast districts and parts of the Central Tablelands, Riverina and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts,” the warning states.
“There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.”
Snow in Oberon May 11, 2018
Meanwhile, Bathurst locals remain hopeful of the first real snowfalls in the centre of the city for almost three years.
High country surrounding the city is expected to receive heavy falls over Saturday night and Sunday morning but snow in Bathurst itself remains only an outside chance.
The temperature is expected to fall to -1 on Sunday morning before rising to a top of just 6 degrees Celsius.
There is a 60 per cent chance of rain on Saturday and 80 per cent chance on Sunday, but only light falls are expected.
