Murphy pocketed a handy $20,000 thanks to win, after the dog came from $16 odds to claim a fourth career win.
Murphy was stoked with the result.
“It was a massive win,” he said.
“It was a big effort and we put in a lot of effort, going to different tracks to get enough points.”
Rockstar Kerr ran a mammoth race, recovering from a poor jump from box four.
Goldstein ($5) set the early pace and built a commanding lead after the first lap, looking unlikely to be caught.
However, Rockstar Kerr worked her way from six back to be challenging the top three in the back straight.
Rockstar Kerr worked her away Yankee’s Ethics ($4) and Rema’s Amber ($31) to get herself into Goldstein’s presence.
Coming into the home stretch, Rockstar Kerr got around Goldstein and never looked back, running away to claim the win by just over two metres.
Rockstar Kerr’s great run was rewarded on the drive home.
“We treated her to a soft serve ice cream from McDonalds,” Murphy said.
“All our dogs get well looked after by us.”
Murphy plans to take Rockstar Kerr back to Wentworth Park again this coming Saturday.
