Bathurst tennis captain Samantha Burrow said the squad is feeling confident after some strong wins earlier in the week. 

“On Monday we actually beat both schools [Orange and Dubbo] in boy’s and girl’s tennis, so we’re pretty confident beating them in the Astley Cup,” she said. 

“Historically, in the past few years we’ve started to get up in tennis but we should be able to carry on in the next couple of years as well.”

Burrow said playing in the Astley Cup is a “massive deal” for her. 

“It’s an honour to be in Astley Cup and everyone knows that,” she said. 

“It’s prestigious and something you always look forward to.”

Being in year 12, it’s Burrow’s last chance to gain some school pride in the Astley Cup. 

“I want that fourth cup,” she said.

She’s also confident that her school’s other teams will put in strong performances. 

“I think we should be good in soccer. We beat Orange High in soccer in our school rounds,” she said. 

“Netball is looking strong and so is basketball.

“Overall, I think we’re looking a lot stronger then we have in the past few years.”
