Neil Day’s gelding peeled out three wide on the turn for home and finished off what had been a high tempo race in the best possible fashion.

Thats Ideal ($8.60) beat Sabrage ($14.50) and Izzy Watt ($23.40) to the prize.

Odds-on favourite Parramatta ($1.50) was a shock fourth.

With his win Thats Ideal became the first horse to run a 1:54 or lower winning mile rate at Bathurst Paceway since April.

“He’s struck a bit of form. He got a bit of luck there today. Everything fell into place, got a nice run and he got over the top of them,” Day said, celebrating just his second win on the new Bathurst track.

“He’s a bit of a big, nervy bloke but he’s starting to settle down in his races consistently so hopefully he can keep things going that way.”

The race had one less horse taking part when Zaras Choice missed the start and was declared a non-runner.

From the remaining seven contenders Sabrage took control of the race ahead of Kleened Out and Karloo Threeothree.

Parramatta, who had started on the inside of the back row, didn’t waste any time getting to the head of the field.

By the time the field went past the winning post for the first time Parramatta had taken the lead away from Sabrage.

Across the back it was Parramatta leading the way with Sabrage behind him. Karloo Threeothree led the outside line and Thats Ideal was next in tow.

On the turn for home Thats Ideal pulled out wide for his move but Parramatta still looked the horse to beat with 200m to run.

However, Thats Ideal and Sabrage flew by either side of the favourite inside the 100m.

Thats Ideal was the faster of the pair and went on to celebrate a 12^th career victory, and his second in a row after winning at Goulburn last week.

All quarters were consistent, clocking in between 28 and 29 seconds.

Day picked up a fourth placing in the previous race with favourite Arma Hotshot.
