A MAN who allegedly hid in the roof of a Kelso property while trying to avoid arrest by police has been charged in relation to a series of break and enters which occurred in Bathurst last Sunday and Monday.

Police arrested the man and another two people who they allege were involved in a series of thefts over last weekend.
Chifley Local Area Command crime manager Inspector Luke Rankin said the alleged thefts occurred over a 48-hour period in the Kelso area and the West Bathurst area.
He said police received a spate of reports, including a vehicle window being smashed in Middlemiss Place, a driver’s side door being damaged in Esrom Street, a light switch stolen when a Nissan Navara was broken into in Macquarie Street, and cash being taken from a console in Bouffler Place.
Police began their investigations and on Wednesday morning executed two search warrants in Patterson Close and Payne Close.
Police will allege they seized property allegedly stolen from vehicles as well as other items otherwise unlawfully obtained.
As a result of the search warrants, police arrested a 36-year-old man, a 29-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman.
Inspector Rankin said police will allege one of the men was hiding in the roof of one of the properties trying to avoid arrest.
“Police could hear noises in the roof and police standing outside could see tiles moving on the roof,” Inspector Rankin said.
Inspector Rankin said police had to pull the man from the roof to arrest him.
He said police investigations, as well as information from the public, assisted in the arrest.
Inspector Rankin said part of what will be alleged by police is credit cards, allegedly stolen as part of the criminal activity, were used around town.
The two men and 19-year-old woman were all charged by police.
They will appear before Bathurst Local Court at a later date.
