The park has had an irrigation system installed recently to improve the enjoyment of the park for residents and their pets.
The upgrade will enable the area to be maintained to a standard to meet community expectations.
From Monday, July 2 the park will close for three weeks to allow the new grass to germinate.
Mayor Graeme Hanger said the park was a popular spot for many residents to take their pets and the area helped build a sense of community.
“Off leash areas encourage the dogs to run around and socialise,” Cr Hanger said.
“It is also an opportunity for pet owners to meet with like-minded people.
“The short wait during the closure period will allow the grass to establish and provide a lovely area for the pets to play.”
