THERE were balls big and small as children of all ages spent Wednesday afternoon playing games at a family community day at the Kelso Community Hub.

Organised by Creative Community Concepts, the event was an opportunity for children to play sports for free that they wouldn’t normally have the chance to play.
But there was also a wider aspiration behind the event.
Creative Community Concepts program manager Kyle Myers said the event aimed to help break the stigma surrounding community housing.
“We want the broader community to be able to come here and feel safe and have fun,” he said.
“We had 10 Creative Community Concepts staff from over the Central West and Riverina regions in Bathurst helping.
“All of our events are safe events and no one ever goes home not happy. They all have smiles on their faces.”
Games included croquet and a hula hoop competition.
Mr Myers said the event provided a free opportunity for children who wouldn’t normally get the chance.
“There are a lot of kids there that love sport but don’t have the resources to participate. What we do is bring the resources to them and it’s all free,” he said.
