Marketing and events manager Jo McClelland-Phillips said the festival has been going well, with plenty of people coming to enjoy the winter attractions.
“It has been wonderful to see the families come out and the joy on the kids’ faces when they hit the target in Mayfield curling or get to roast their own marshmallows in the woodfire garden,” she said.
Those two attractions have been extremely popular, but people have also been eager to experience the private garden, which has never been open over winter before.
“The free curling and S’Mores on weekends have been among the most popular attractions but of course when the Hawkins’ family garden is open, everyone gets excited,” Ms McClelland-Phillips said.
“The croquet court and rose garden look beautiful in winter, as does the Birch Walk, which is magical when the leaves are down and their beautiful white bark is allowed to be the star.”
In addition to all the things available in the garden, Mayfield’s cafe has been serving up winter goodness, which Ms McClelland-Phillips said shouldn’t be missed.
“The farm-to-table menu by chef Dan Child offers gluten-free and vegan options, and the tasty winter cocktails are stunning with mulled wine this weekend,” she added.
Mayfield Garden is open daily between 9am and 4.30pm.
The winter festival will conclude on Sunday afternoon, meaning people have just the weekend left to experience the attractions.
“This is a world-class garden right in our own backyard, and with areas of the Hawkins’ family garden open like the sunken garden rooms, creek gardens, and the amphitheatre, this is a rare opportunity that shouldn’t be missed,” Ms McClelland-Phillips said.
