Panthers and Collegians Mystified are set to battle for top place on the ladder with two games against each other over the weekend, and if their first meeting is anything to go by then these matches could be classics.
Collegians were 46-44 winners the first time around but Panthers will like their chances of turning things around over their two games
Bulldogs Verdelho will try to keep pace with the two front runners when they play last-placed CSU Thunder over Saturday and Sunday.
The meetings between Mana and All Saints’ College will be another pair of exciting games in regards to the ladder situation.
Mana will be defending fourth place from an ASC team playing well in the face of their first A grade season.
Last week’s first match back from school holidays was a tough one for Mana as they faced a red hot Panthers.
Mana coach Michael Germech said his team will take a lot away from last Saturday’s loss, and are aware of where they can lift.
“Our speed to the ball, our decision making just wasn’t there,” he said.
"We’re throwing the ball in the air too much. We weren’t following our leads to the ball. We were taking some shots that we’d normally be expecting to make but missing them.
“With two games this weekend it means if we make mistakes in the first game we’ve got a chance to fix them up, but equally they’ve got a chance to have a look at us.
“Most of our team is available this weekend and we’re heading in the right direction.”
Germech was full of praise for the way ASC have handled themselves over the course of the season.
“We beat All Saints last time reasonably comfortably but they’re a team that never accepts that they’re going to be beaten,” he said.
“They’re a bunch of girls who always try right through until the final buzzer.
“Their game against Bulldogs demonstrated that. I watched a lot of that game last week and they’re not ever going to give up regardless of what the scoreboard says.”
Saturday’s matches follow the regular times with Panthers and Collegians playing at 1.15pm, Bulldogs and CSU at 2.30pm and Mana and ASC playing from 3.45pm.
Sunday’s games follow a different schedule.
The ASC and Mana as well as the CSU against Bulldogs games will both take place at 12.10pm while the Panthers-Collegians match is at 1.30pm.
