McLaughlin spent his time at Mount Panorama on Tuesday and Wednesday, appearing to be fulfilling filming commitments involving the Ford Mustang, which will replace Falcons on the grid from 2019.
McLaughlin shared photos and videos on his Instagram account over the two days, including a photo of the Mustang and himself in pole position on the grid.
His Bathurst visit comes after a solid result at Sydney Motorsport Park on Saturday night, the first championship night race on Australian soil in more than 20 years.
The Shell V-Power Racing driver placed third behind the two Triple Eight Red Bull Racing cars, driven by Shane van Gisbergen and Jamie Whincup.
McLaughlin has yet to win the Bathurst 1000, but he did set the fastest time in a Supercar at the 2017 event.
