EMILIE Miller got to live out a dream when crowned a dual Para Road World Champion in Italy earlier this month and if she can maintain that sort of form, another dream may very well come true.

It was recently announced that the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games would include female events in Miller’s H1 classification for the first time.
Though there are countless hours of training to come between now and any possible selection on the Australian Paralympic team for Tokyo, the news gives the Bathurst hand cyclist something new to aim for.
It could see her add to her road race and time trial world championship crowns.
“Emilie's category has now been included for Tokyo, which is really cool. Last year at the World Championships they announced that H2 to H5 would be competing, but within the last couple of months they announced that they got it wrong and will include H1,” Miller’s coach Toireasa Gallagher said.
“H1 and H2 women will actually race in the time trial together, but then they'll factor the H1 category for time.

“So she's got that to look forward to. She's still got to make the team - who knows how that's going to work? But the fact that she has the ability now to be able to compete at Tokyo is fantastic.
“When Emilie was at the world's this year, they [UCI] did some testing on her. They did it so they could say 'Right, they use this muscle group, they can push out this amount of power', all that sort of stuff.
“So that should help them work out what kind of courses they can ride … Emilie is paving the way.”
