Now in its fifth year, the Bathurst Jobs Expo is Bathurst Regional Council’s way of helping to boost employment in the city.
Mayor Graeme Hanger said the event has continued to grow over the years, regularly packing out the venue.
“The event grew rapidly from 2014 to 2016 to become the largest jobs expo in the Central West, and has maintained a steady audience of approximately 2,500 attendees since then,” he said.
“BMEC can hold 50 exhibitors, so the venue is at full capacity each year.”
While the expo is open to all members of the community, the event has become a destination for schools around the region.
Cr Hanger said the expo was a valuable tool for those who take part in it, from the job seekers to the exhibitors.
“The Bathurst Jobs Expo presents a platform for employers, employment agencies and interested parties to meet and engage with job seekers and students to discuss employment opportunities in the Bathurst region,” he said.
“It promotes the retention of our youth to live and work in Bathurst, and lowers the unemployment rate.”
There will be around 50 exhibitors from different industries at this year’s expo.
One of the exhibitors coming along this year is VERTO.
CEO Ron Maxwell said the jobs expo is a “great initiative” supporting employment in the region.
“It is really important to support regional employment to encourage growth and investment in local communities,” he said.
“VERTO is committed to regional communities and has been headquartered in the Central West for over 35 years.
“The Bathurst Jobs Expo is a great initiative that highlights employment opportunities in the Bathurst region, and we are excited to be able to showcase our services that support job seekers during their journey.”
The expo will be held at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre on Tuesday from 9am to 3pm.
