It is now a major festival of music, art and culture but with Bathurst Regional Council’s continued support there is room for the festival to grow considerably in scale and stature.
The festival has set its sights on becoming a much-anticipated annual signature event that attracts significant visitation to the area, is a major focus of local pride and cohesion, redefines perceptions of Bathurst and Wahluu - Mount Panorama as cultural focal points and is a benchmark for regional music and cultural festivals nationally.
We are very proud of the 2018 lineup.
The Cat Empire returns to Australia from a barnstorming European tour two days before they headline at the Inland Sea of Sound. In November they will perform in Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, U.K., France, Spain and Bathurst. It is great to be in that company.
Deborah Conway will grace the stage with a full seven-piece band singing songs from the early Do-Re-Mi days up to her latest album Everybody’s Begging.
The rest of the program features another 95 talented musicians, including 74 from regional Australia. Regional artists include Benny Walker, Heath Cullen and Tullara Connors as well as Bathurst’s own Smith & Jones, Safety of Life at Sea and Gabbi Bolt.
Inland Sea of Sound occupies its current location with the blessing and co-operation of the local Wiradyuri elders and the local Aboriginal community. This location and this relationship are part of what sets the Inland Sea of Sound apart from other music festivals. It is a place where we can all celebrate together.
In 2017 the Wiradyuri welcome performance was a much talked about festival highlight. In 2018 an expanded welcome will include not only local Wiradyuri performers but also international First Nations guests such as Te Rua Mauri from New Zealand.
November will be an unforgettable month for the Bathurst region and visitors joining us.
It will commence with the signature festival and conference that is Artstate (artstate.come.au) from November 1-4 and the month will culminate on November 30 and December 1 with the Inland Sea of Sound (inlandseaofsound.com.au).
Tickets start at $46 with children aged 12 years and under free of charge.
With the help and support of the people of the Bathurst Region the Inland Sea of Sound can become another reason that Wahluu – Mount Panorama is known around the world.
