Fire and Rescue NSW and police were called to Robinson Street at 9am and arrived on scene expecting to fight a house fire.
According to Fire and Rescue NSW Central West Zone Commander Superintendent Brett Jackson the Canowindra brigade were instead confronted by a man carrying a burning container.
Supt Jackson described the man as “quite aggressive”, with police claiming the man smashed the driver’s side window of the fire truck when it arrived at the scene.
“Our officers withdrew to a safe location and waited for police to arrive,” Supt Jackson said.
When police arrived they encountered the man carrying the container in a nearby street.
