Regular readers of Parade might recall an item a month ago about a series of signs spotted along the Great Western Highway during a weekend trip to Sydney.
There were four in all, each painted on a bed sheet and hung from pedestrian overpasses that crossed the highway.
The first three signs carried the words “Lauren”, “Will” and “You” before the final signed carried the punchline: “Pick up some milk please?”

Parade wondered at the time whether such a marriage proposal would be well received, and now we know the answer: She said yes.
Chris Ferrarin is the man behind the signs and he got in contact with Parade after seeing last month’s article posted online.
He said it took him about four hours to hang all the signs and then he waited at home hoping Lauren would see them on her after-work commute.
But he had another trick up his sleeve to ensure his work didn’t go to waste.
“After I put them up I thought she might not see them on her way home down the Mountains from work, as you often don't pay a lot of attention to the road driving home,” he said.
“So I messaged her and said that I heard on the radio that some kids were seen throwing rocks off the bridge at Warrimoo, which was where the first one was.
“When she saw it she thought it was just a coincidence. Until she saw the last sign when she instantly knew it was me.”
When Lauren made it home, it was Chris who was left waiting, holding a fifth hand-written sign (above).
“She didn't come and say hello as she normally would … She said she didn't want to give me the satisfaction of my joke,” he said.
“She still didn't realise I was actually proposing. Eventually I called out from the room I was in and asked if she got the milk. She said, ‘no, I was in a rush’.
“Finally she walked in to the room and saw the sign … and said yes.”
We’re glad to hear it and well done, Chris. You’ve set a high benchmark for your mates to match when they pop the question.
In full voice for PUBlic Choir
WARM up the vocal chords and grab a beer or two, it’s that time of the month again.
PUBlic Choir will return to the George Hotel on Tuesday night for another community sing-along.
Each month the team from Mitchell Conservatorium teaches participants the lyrics (and some harmonies) for a classic song and after a couple of hours of front-bar rehearsals, everyone finishes the night with a full rendition of the number.
It’s great fun and something everyone should try at least once. It all starts at 7pm.
