Bardon’s 89th minute bullet helped Black take a 1-0 win over Abercrombie FC Gold and in the process help his team lock up sixth place on the ladder – the last remaining finals spot.
Considering the Panorama FC Black side were originally slated to play in second grade it’s been an impressive effort from the squad to double the club’s finals presence.
Bardon said it was a tense finish to Sunday’s contest with AFC.
“They had some big, open chances with about 10 minutes to go and it looked like they were going to snatch it,” he said.
“We ended up with the ball on the edge of the box. I got given the ball, beat a couple of players, hit it off my right foot from about 30 metres out into the top right corner.
“CSU Red were chasing us for that sixth spot, and they’d beaten us a few weeks ago, so we needed to win to confirm our place.
“We also needed that win to lift our spirits. There wasn’t much camaraderie out there towards the end of that game.”
