CHILDREN of all ages are set to take to the stage at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre from Saturday morning until the second Friday in September as the Bathurst Eisteddfod returns for another year.

Starting on August 25 and running each day until September 14, this year’s eisteddfod will be the 73rd edition of the event.
With performances in speech, music and dance, the schedule is expected to be jam-packed with incredible talent from Bathurst and right across the Central West.

Over 4500 individual performances have been locked in over the event’s 20 days.
Bathurst Eisteddfod publicity coordinator Chris King said there will be plenty of talent on show.
“It’s going to be a good chance to give kids a chance to perform in front of their family and friends,” he said.
“I’m sure they’re looking forward to it.”
With the eisteddfod running from almost three weeks, no doubt volunteers will be kept quite busy.
“It’ll be busy but it’ll be worth the work,” Mr King said.
Entry and volunteer co-ordinator Renee Fowler said most positions have been filled.
“We’re quite well covered at the moment, but we won’t say no to more volunteers,” she said.
“If people want to pop in, give it a go and see what it’s like to be a volunteer, we won’t say no.”
Entries have been received not just from Bathurst but from across the Central West, the Central Coast, Sydney and even from the country’s capital.

There’s even been one entry received all the way from Batemans Bay on the South Coast.
There will be no grand concert this year, instead, the Glenray choir will be performing on Friday, September 14.
Dance is the first discipline and will run from August 25 to September 7.
Dance groups will perform on September 1 and 2.
Speech performances will run from August 26 to September 5 and music will run from September 6 to 14.
