Stephen Cleary-trained bitch Calypso Silver ($2.30 favourite) got to the front early in the Duke’s Ladbrokes Previews Maiden (307 metres) and held off Dusty Cash ($5) in a two-dog duel.
Punters had their eye on two dogs in the opening event at Kennerson Park, Calypso Silver and Bogan Crazy ($2.80).
However, when the boxes opened Bogan Crazy put herself out of winning contention with a horror start.
Out in front Calypso Silver, Dusty Drama and Dusty Cash formed a line of three as they approached the turn.
Dusty Drama was sandwiched between the other two leaders and found herself squeezed out of the battle.
The third of Alita Funnell’s contenders, Dusty Mcghee ($18.40), moved into third on the bend and eyed off a challenge at the leading pair.
Bogan Crazy weaved through the field to draw level with Dusty Mcghee but there was going to be no catching the two in front.
Calypso Silver, bit by bit, drew away from Dusty Cash in the final 50m to win by 1.75 lengths.

Cleary hasn’t had the chance to train Calypso Silver for a long time but is hoping to see more good times with the Swift Fancy bitch.
“I’ve only had her for about seven weeks. A mate of mine didn’t have time to train her so he asked me to have a go,” he said.
“She’s one from one for me so it’s all downhill from here.”
