The school’s Flannie for a Farmer fundraiser on Tuesday got the whole school moving, with students in kindergarten to Year 6 all dancing together to techno line dance song Steps – 5, 6, 7, 8 by British dance-pop group Steps.

School teacher Danielle McClements said students were also invited to purchase a cardboard cutout raindrop on which they could write a message of hope and support for those impacted by the drought.

“The kids are seeing a lot about the drought and we’ve been talking about what we can do to help at school,” she said.

“We wanted to do a fundraiser and we also thought it was important for the kids to be able to have empathy.”

Ms McClements said the $1500 raised was far beyond her expectations.

“We’re hoping to donate the funds to a school further out west,” she said.

“Our goal was to be able to let the kids at that school know that people were thinking of them.”
