Running across September, BizMonth is an initiative of Bathurst Regional Council that aims to highlight the importance and diversity of local businesses.
For the second year in a row, the Western Advocate, in partnership with council, Prime7, Clancy Motors and the Bathurst Business Chamber, is giving away a new Kia Picanto.
From September 6, those who make an eligible purchase from one of the many participating stores will go into the draw to win the car.
The participating businesses are Central West Blinds and Awnings, Becks Bakery, Town & Country Rural Supplies, Dawsons Removals, Bathurst RSL, Westpoint Shopping Centre, Bathurst Aquatic Centre, Panthers Bathurst, Raine & Horne, Macquarie Medi Spa, Red Chair, Gorgeousness, Rydges Mount Panorama, Bake, Table & Tea and Pussyfoot Shoe Boutique.
“The Western Advocate is delighted to partner with the Prime 7 network, the business chamber and Clancy Motor Group to celebrate Biz Month in Bathurst,” sales manager Nils Gustafson said.
“We look forward to a strong month of customers supporting local Bathurst businesses.”
Clancy Motors general sales manager Brendon Fush said the dealership was proud to be back on board to help with the giveaway.
“We supported it last year and we thought it would be a fantastic opportunity to be part of it again this year to promote buying local,” he said.
The Kia Picanto is a “fantastic small car” and the “perfect runabout”, Mr Fush said, and will come with a seven-year unlimited kilometre warranty.
Mayor Graeme Hanger said BizMonth is an important time of year that encourages businesses to promote themselves and residents to spend their money locally.
With a car up for grabs, there is an even bigger incentive to shop locally.
Business chamber president Angus Edwards said that, given the drought, it has become even more important to support local businesses, as they too are suffering.
“We are encouraging businesses to get involved with BizMonth in promoting their own businesses, but also encouraging the local community to think about where they’re spending their money and making sure they’re supporting local businesses,” he said.
Prime7 sales manager Rod Monk said the network has been operating in the region for more than 50 years and is looking forward to support the community through the promotion.
During September, local businesses will be featured on the network in commercials and during news bulletins.
