With Central West Rugby Union and New Era Cup grand finals already played, Bathurst Bulldogs second grade and women’s teams have been crowned champions, as well as the CSU Yellow’s league tag team.
With Group 10 Rugby League and Premier League Hockey grand finals this weekend, with Central West AFL grand finals the following weekend, there’s still a chance of more Bathurst teams to crowned champions.
Bathurst mayor Graeme Hanger said it was amazing to see so many Bathurst teams performing well across so many different sports.
“We’ve got so many teams in various sport grand finals and all the teams are doing well, even if they haven’t made it,” he said.
“People are getting out there, enjoying the facilities council has provided. We’ve got some great grounds.
“There’ll be a winner and a loser but we wish all the best of teams the best of luck.”
No doubt the strong performance of so many Bathurst-based sides in regional competition is a sign of talent of the athletes the city has on offer.
“It’s a good of the talent and commitment we have,” Cr Hanger said.
“You just don’t get into a grand final all of a sudden. You’ve got to do the hard work. It all starts back in March, April.”
