STANNIES boys put their religious theory of “living the Christian life” into practice recently by creating and distributing gift packs for volunteers helping out in the community.

Teacher Kate Welsh said the boys got together to brainstorm, then wrote to local businesses requesting donations for vouchers to create gift packs for volunteers which were distributed to St Vincent de Paul, the Salvation Army and the Bathurst Refugee Support Group.
Year 8 student Willem Shone said the group was thankful to all businesses that assisted by donating vouchers, which they then distributed to the three charities.
Stephen Barrott, manager of the Salvation Army Store in Bathurst, said it was great to be able to pass the vouchers on to volunteers.
“It’s nice to be able to give something back to them for all they do for us,” he said.
Bernie Sinclair, from St Vincent de Paul, thanked the students, saying it was a marvellous initiative.
Ms Welsh thanked Al Dante, Annie’s, Bake, Table and Tea, Banjos, Bathurst RSL, Beautiful Glow, Coles, Country Coffee, Gloria Jeans, McDonald’s, Metro Cinemas, Muffin Break, Price Attack, Renaissance Hair, The Hub and Woolworths City Centre and Stockland for supporting the students.
