The man nicknamed ‘Brains’ was part of the Bathurst Bushrangers Rebels side which lost Saturday’s decider by three points to the Orange Tigers.
The Bathurst Eagle turned Bushranger had hoped to retire with a premiership medal around his neck alongside son Sebastian, but it was not to be.
“That’s it, my last game, definitely,” he said at full-time.
“It’s not a nice way to go out. I’m just proud to be part of this club and to see what what the club has done with two sides.
“Three years in a row we’ve been in there and unfortunately twice we’ve had heartbreaking losses.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the guys, they put in 100 percent but unfortunately we just didn’t get there today.
“I’m just shattered, it’s just heartbreaking.”
