Hope Knight, 27, of View Street in Kelso, appeared before Bathurst Local Court charged with affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, driving while disqualified and failing to appear.
Police facts tendered to the court told how the victim in the matter heard a knock at the door and asked a number of times “who is it”, but got no answer. A short time later, the victim heard a co-accused in the matter reply: “Your worst nightmare.”
It was alleged the co-accused began yelling, inviting the victim to come outside. The victim eventually came out and it was alleged he saw the co-accused holding a screwdriver in his hand.
Fearing for his safety, the victim punched the co-accused and a struggle occurred.
Knight then became involved, according to the police facts, punching the victim a number of times and causing swelling and bruising to the victim’s face.
The victim ran to the 7-Eleven service station for safety, where staff sheltered him until police arrived.
In the meantime, Knight handed the co-accused a golf club from the rear of a vehicle and it is alleged the co-accused chased the victim towards the 7-Eleven.
Knight made admissions to yelling “bash him, bash him”.
When police spoke to Knight, she stated she was driving the car looking for the co-accused and knew she shouldn’t be driving, as she had been given a 12-month disqualification by the court until April 24, 2018.
She also made admissions to handing the golf club to the co-accused.
On the affray charge, she was convicted and placed on a Section 9 bond for 18 months. She was convicted and fined $1000 on the assault occasioning actual bodily harm charge and was given a Section 12 suspended sentence plus disqualified from driving for 12 months from September 3, 2018 for driving while suspended (second plus offence) and convicted and fined $500 for affray.
