The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a low of -4 degrees Celsius on Monday morning with wide areas of frost across the region.
The forecast puts the region within striking distance of the record low September temperature of -4.9 degrees Celsius recorded at Bathurst Airport on September 2, 2012.
The freezing conditions won’t last, however, with the cold start tipped to clear to a sunny day and a top of 17.
Bathurst can expect an overnight low of 2 degrees on Tuesday and a top of 21 while Wednesday is likely to see a low of 6 and top of 19.
There is no significant rain forecast for the next week.
