People using the Return and Earn can donate their proceeds to Can Assist, which in turn provides financial assistance to cancer patients living in the 2795 post code.
President of Bathurst’s Can Assist, Gen Croaker said in recent times the charity has seen an increase in the number of cancer patients approaching the charity for assistance with medications costs, accommodation or other living expenses.
Mrs Croaker said the community’s participation by donating proceeds from their returns at the collection points at 8 Lions Club Drive Bathurst (Op Shop) and Corporation Drive would be greatly appreciated by the charity and those who utilise their service.
Can Assist is the nominated charity until November 25, 2018.
Can Assist helps cancer patients and while it has associations with Daffodil Cottage, it does not receive financial assistance from there, nor does not receive any government funding, relying totally on donations from the community to continue their work.
Mrs Croaker said anyone interested in becoming a member of the charity can do so by attending the meetings, held on the second Tuesday of the month at Daffodil Cottage, starting at 4.30pm.
