I APPLAUD the announcement of a royal commission into our aged care sector. We hear far too often about the shocking treatment of our vulnerable, ageing and frail loved ones.

I would like to offer a positive side to this discussion.
I am a daily visitor to St Catherine’s Aged Care Centre in Bathurst. My experience of the staff is one of professionalism, dedication and compassion. I am personally grateful for the care of our 10 Sisters living there.
The residents are treated with respect, dignity and empathy.
Their welfare is a priority for all staff.
So as well as hoping that the commission has a positive outcome, let’s not forget those homes (and they are the majority) who are already dedicated to the welfare of our families.
With gratitude to Liz, Angela and all the staff at St Catherine’s
Kath O’Connor, Bathurst
