Geraldine Annis-Brown, 46, of View Street in Kelso, appeared before Magistrate Clisdell in Bathurst Local Court.
Police facts tendered to the court told how police were patrolling Boyd Street in Kelso on June 20 when they saw a Kia Rio sedan with NSW registration plates being driven east along Boyd Street.
Police did a U-turn and pulled the car over outside units in Bonnor Street. Police approached the car and saw the accused in the driver's seat.
According to the police facts, Annis-Brown said to police: "Hey, sis, I ain’t got a licence, you know that. Do I have to come back with you?”
The accused was given a roadside breath test, which was negative. She was placed under arrest, cautioned and asked further questions in relation to why she was driving.
According to the police facts, Annis-Brown said she was “just driving to pick up” her grandson as her partner had forgotten to bring him home.
The accused said to police she had been charged before for driving while disqualified.
She was taken to Bathurst Police Station, where checks on her licence revealed she was disqualified from January 10, 2013 to January 10, 2023.
The court also saw she had undertaken the Traffic Offenders Intervention Program.
Annis-Brown was convicted, fined $800 and disqualified for two years from driving.
Annis-Brown also appeared on other charges on the day, including driving with an illicit drug in her blood and driving while disqualified (second-plus offence).
For driving with an illicit drug present in her blood, which related to an incident on April 28 in Bourke, she was fined $300 and disqualified for six months from September 10, 2018. For driving while disqualified, she was fined $600 and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
